As have details on an upcoming Google service referred to as 'Google Fit' that would help users track and aggregate their fitness data. Now more details of the program have leaked out ahead of the service’s possible Google I/O debut. this service is likely to come to market under the name “Google Play Fitness.” It’s said that Google Play Fitness will work similarly to Google Play Games in that it will track, organize and present your fitness and health into a single location on your device such as Google Nearby Service. The Google Fit will reportedly have the ability to track motion, speed and distance traveled.
One other Google project that’s expected to play a role in Play Fitness is Android Wear. This wearables platform will likely tie-in with Play Fitness, regardless of the device manufacturer and their set with Google.
Fitness and health trackers as well as wearables in general are all the rage in the mobile industry right now. While there are already some Android-friendly fitness gear, it makes sense for Google to prep its own offering that can aggregate data from the various health and fitness apps and make it easier for users to get at that data and understand it.
